I have just received an email from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (not personally you understand!) about his Chicken Out! campaign.
He wants to bring a resolution to the Tesco AGM forcing the supermarket to to adopt RSPCA standards on chicken. However, Tesco will only take the resolution to the AGM if he meets the cost of distributing the relevant papers to the shareholders which is going to cost £86,888.
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is going to personally use £30,000 of his own money but needs to raise the remaining £56,888 by Wednesday 11th June. To do so he and the River Cottage team are holding an online auction.
